Our History
DCN traces its origins to two early 20th‑century charitable bequests supporting housing for elderly women. In 1923, Harriot A. Newcomb’s will established the Newcomb Home in Norton. Around the same time, Frances A. Crandall created a trust to fund a similar home in Attleboro, leading to the formation of the John Daggett Home for Aged Women in 1926. Both homes operated through gifts, bequests, and life‑care contracts until merging in 1966. The current DCN location opened in 1968 on Newcomb land.
